Prague

A good day walking around Prague as we visited the Old Towne Square which might be the prettiest city area we’ve seen to date.

After walking around the square we headed to the castle and cathedral which were also gorgeous. Lots of walking on this trip, much to the chagrin of the boys, particularly David.

We climbed the cathedral’s bell tower (287 steps each way by my count) for some stunning vistas of the city.

The surprise of the day was the visit to the Museum of Communism which was superb. The museum provided a brief history of the forming of what was then Czechoslovakia, the Nazis taking control of the country in 1938/39, its role in WWII, the Soviet influence occupation in 1946/48, and finally communism’s demise in November 1989 during the Velvet Revolution. Terrific museum and the Czechs have no love of communism as seen by the sign marking the entrance of the museum. We ended the day at a wonderful restaurant located next to our apartment. We journey to Menton, France next via a plane flight to Lyon and then renting a car to drive to Menton to visit M. Rizo and his family.
